About
Melissa Holmes is a visual artist based in Atlanta, Georgia. Melissa grew up drawing from an early age and graduated from Clemson University with a B.A. in major in computer science and a minor in art. After working as a software engineer for ten years, she transitioned to focus on exploring the intersection of art, code, and data and attended the School for Poetic Computation in New York City.
Recently, while working in her home studio in Atlanta, GA, she shifted focus to more personal work in charcoal and paint emphasizing an appreciation for small environmental variation and its effects on her and her muses. Her practice is observation based, and she uses her knowledge of nature and technology to explore and record the experiences of individuals with attention to care and context.
